Candy Cigarettes! Completely Off Topic … and Politically Incorrect.
Do you remember candy cigarettes? I loved candy cigarettes! I remember walking to Osco Drugs and browsing the candy isle looking for these delightfully sugary ways to immitate “coolness” of smoking.

HR 2749 – An Act to Control the Food Supply and Penalize Even Gardners
The term “facility” does not include “farms” for purposes of registration in either the current law or under the bill [21 USC § 350d(b)(1)]. But what exactly is a “farm”? The FDA’s current regulations take a very narrow view of what qualifies as a farm:
“…a facility in one general physical location devoted to the growing and harvesting of crops, the raising of animals (including seafood), or both. Washing, trimming of outer leaves of, and cooling produce are considered part of harvesting. The term “farm” includes:
“(i) Facilities that pack or hold food, provided that all food used in such activities is grown, raised, or consumed on that farm or another farm under the same ownership; and
“(ii) Facilities that manufacture/process food, provided that all food used in such activities is consumed on that farm or another farm under the same ownership.” [21 CFR § 1.227(3)] (emphasis added)

“Homegrown Revolution”
I am so inspired to grow my own garden; fruits, veges, and especially herbs. Homesteading is very appealing to me, but living so far outside the city is not. I will always be a city girl at heart. Path to Freedom has offered me a glimpse into the life of urban homesteading and has convinced me that it is possible. And considering that traditional nutrition is already something that I dare to achieve, urban homesteading will only complete that dream.

Why Politics? Where Governing and Mothering Meet
Many of the people I know in my tangible life are mothers (parents) too, and I often get the question, “why politics? Of all the things that mothers need to be concerned about, why on earth would I find such an emotionally-charged and polarizing topic to be so important?” They’re right … mothers have a lot on their plate and much to be concerned with: education, health, finances, well-being, faith, nutrition, medicine, transportation, extra-curricular activities, friends, husbands, diapers (and all things baby), indoor decor and outdoor decor, self – preservation, technology, pets …. well you get the idea. So why do I feel it necessary to add politics into this mix?

The “People” are Courting a Collective Sociopath!
I am not speaking in terms of just Obama. On the contrary, I had many members of the government in mind including Bush, Pelosi, Geitner, the Fed, and many, many others. But what pisses me off about this whole thing is that “We the People” have allowed the government to treat us like its …

How ’bout a Constiutional View of Marriage
Proponents of gay marriage argue that marriage is a right for all couples who are in a loving committed relationship regardless of sexual orientation…..Opponents of gay marriage argue that marriage is a right for ONLY one man and one woman….These two completely polar opposite positions have a common ground on which they can fight upon

Obama: Creating Pre-Crime Department and Minority Report
After condemning the Bush administrations “ad hoc legal approach for fighting terrorism that was neither effective nor sustainable” (okay, good – I’m with you on that one) Obama then proceeds to give his own ad hoc legal approach for fighting terrorism.

Why Would the FDA Ban an Essential Nutrient?
Wow! What an awesome nutrient! While P5P is not the only chemical compound found in Vitamin B-6, one must wonder why the FDA would want to ban it. On January 12, 2009, the FDA “reasoned that the ingredient was authorized for investigation as a new drug before it was ever marketed as a dietary supplement.” New drug?!?! This compound is naturally occurring, you can find it in a number of foods and herbs. If P5P qualifies as a drug then 1) how will the FDA hinder the natural production of it and 2) how will we be able to benefit from it?

The Most Radical Responsibile Woman I Know
The most radical, responsible woman I know, I have never met in person and I suspect I never will. She is an arms length away, and always one prayer short of reach. She is right in front of me, yet completely aloof. Perhaps you have also heard of her …
